COMMENT
1. Verbs other than be have two forms in the simple present tense:
a simple form and an –s form.
2. The –s form is used with third person singular subjects (he, she, it, john, etc) otherwise, the simple form is used.
Note: The pronunciation of the –s form is related in the pronunciation book.
Exercise 1. Practice the two forms of the following verbs by substituting as shown in the examples.
Reads JOHN READS IN THE MORNING, AND WE READ IN THE AFTERNOON.
Writes JOHN WRITES IN THE MORNING, AND WE WRITE IN THE AFTERNOON.
